What is the Green Seal

This is the common denomination for FSC’s (Forest Stewardship Council) seal. This seal is internationally recognized by consumers of wood products, such as furniture, and structures for buildings. With it, buyers can be assured that the product they acquire does not cause harm to tropical forests.

The Green Seal is the result of consumers’ growing environmental concern, mainly from the European market. Governments and NGOs from various countries formulated together a set of norms that regulate the trade of products from tropical forest origin, through international agreements. Wood factories that have received the Green Seal, can only commercialize products that have been harvested from the forest in a sustainable manner following a well-defined forest management plan certified by international organizations such as the FSC.
